NATCO developed the DOX® Dispersed Oil Extractor process technology to produce clean water from heavily-contaminated ethylene quench water. This integrated design promotes agglomeration of fine oil droplets into large particles, which are then gravity-extracted.
The DOX® system consists of two special coalescers and one exclusive Performax® Separator. The Primary Coalescer initiates coalescence and removes the solids and tars. The Secondary Coalescer enhances the coalescence, so the Performax® Separator can make a clean split between the hydrocarbons, solids and water. The process is continuous and designed to operate unattended with a minimum of maintenance.
The DOX removes free and emulsified hydrocarbons and suspended solids down to 20ppm and produces clear water and virtually solid free light hydrocarbons in a completely closed-loop system. These light hydrocarbons can be recycled and sold or used as fuel. The technology is ideally suited for the clean up of ethylene quench water to feed dilution gas steam generators. The DOX is easy to operate, quick to install, and requires little maintenance.
