Skim Piles

The Skim Pile, also known as a sump or disposal caisson, is the final stage of the water treatment system typically designed to remove all oil droplets larger than 500 microns in size, although NATCO does have unique patented design than can remove oil droplets 50 microns in diameter. While sometimes used in produced water treatment systems, the most common application is offshore deck drainage prior to discharge.

Our technology alleviates the environmental concerns caused by offshore storm water runoff. The separation occurs beneath the ocean surface, and the clean, separated water from the bottom of the Skim Pile is discharged into the ocean.

As a result of internal baffle plates and long retention time in our typical design, additional oil/water separation is achieved through coalescence. The low energy design makes this technology the premier choice for offshore platforms around the world.
